Overcoming the use of thermal relays in the protection of large inertia motors, it is necessary to short-circuit the thermal relay during start-up to prevent misoperation, which increases the complexity of the circuit and also has the disadvantage of protection dead zone. In addition, due to the independent nature of the phase failure detection and overcurrent detection components of the motor protector, even if the overcurrent setting value is incorrect, it will not affect the phase failure protection function.
